6/2022-Now: Designing GLC-2 from Glutamate chloride channel and using PCR and gel electrophoresis to test; also using qPCR to do qualitative analysis. Extract EV(extracellular vesicle) from Ascaris Suum and test IVM(Ivermectin) effect for inhibiting EV release.
3/2022-5/2022: work with partners to collect data from continuous air cleaning by filtration and UV-C treatment of airborne pathogens and particulate matter in indoor spaces.
12/2021-2/2022: Design three primers from Glutamate chloride channel in Ascaris Suum and using PCR and gel electrophoresis to test the three targets; also using qPCR to do qualitative analysis.
08/2021-11/2021: Comparison of Healthy Adult and Puppy Intestinal Epithelium Histological Features
09/2018-05/2020: Optimize the conditions of using gene gun to transfer DNA into several plant cells and explore the situation of using gene gun to transfer GFP and RFP into several plant cells under the same condition

Research Experience
As a PhD student in the Toxicology program, I have had the privilege of engaging in impactful and exciting research in the field of toxicology. My journey is marked by a profound exploration into the effects of various therapeutic agents on parasitic filarial nematodes, aiming to understand their mode of action at molecular level. I can hone skills from molecular biology, biochemical techniques, and electrophysiology amongst others to unravel the complexities of some of the processes involved. A highlight of my research experience is the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and expertise. This enriches my perspective and enables me to integrate concepts from different fields in generating novel insights in my area of research. I therefore find the program both exciting and rewarding.
What do you like most about the Toxicology Program?
The interdisciplinary nature of the program has captured my attention the most, since it allows me to have a thorough understanding of how chemicals and other substances affect living things and ecosystems. Again, the program provides ample opportunities for research and teaching, allows for a collaborative environment and resource accessibility, and skill development. To crown this all, it offers the potential to contribute directly to public health and environmental well-being through its impactful work. Indeed, it brings great satisfaction knowing that my research can play a role in shaping policies and practices that safeguard human and ecological health.
